I am showing you my favorite watercolor painting to date! As I love sending mails, the Post Office is one of my favorite places here in Japan. They are also the prettiest in autumn. The contrast between the yellow ginkgo leaves and the red postal box is just pleasing to the eyes, don't you think? :)

Hello dear friends,
Good day from Tokyo! Mornings are cold so I always wear a scarf. How is the weather where you are?
I am doing loose watercolor painting. Not worrying about lines and perfection helps with my anxiety. I find that I am more consistent with making art every day when I know that it does not have to look realistic and true to the reference photo.

A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Japan hours after ringing in the New Year. I was home with my husband in Tokyo when we felt the shaking which lasted almost a minute. We were a bit shaken but we are okay, though we feel for those who have lost their lives, their homes, and their livelihood in what should have been a time of celebration.Β

Autumn comes in December in Tokyo. This is the time of the year when I am the most creatively inspired as the world is dressed in my favorite color. :)
Here is a painting of the ginkgo trees outside the school where I teach. It is such a lovely walk in the morning before I start my work, and in the afternoon on my way home.
