I hate seeing people getting ripped off and that’s why 12 years ago I started posting videos on YouTube showing how systems and processes are done in our preservation industry, it was just me showing how an honest relevantly educated contractor/surveyor does work and I’ve helped 10s of thousands of people over that time. Yesterday I carried out a survey in Nottingham and was shown this work carried out by a Roofing & Damproofing company apparently, that would have set my alarm bells ringing anyway but they drilled into the brick (which no one does these days) then put these plugs in which look like plasterboard screws, they told the investor they had put damp check rods in but when the plugs were taken out nothing was there. The investor lived miles away and paid the company and now can get in touch with them . For an honest service call 07973748566

I will have a good think about the roots that I want to take, but ideally with me being a plasterer for 25 years and now starting to encounter issues with buildings, with enduring damp That would probably my route I’ll go onto your website and take a look at the initial express damp proof course which you have suggested and I’ll take it from there on a sidenote. Can I just say that your videos are both highly informative, but also very entertaining as you just say how it is And with me been on my own all day I just listen to you and gain a lot of knowledge from all your videos. Keep doing the videos. I’m sure there are thousands of people out there like me who is the benefit in from your content. Kind regards, Nick

If anyone needs to see evidence of continued mis-diagnosis which is the Bain of our industry look no further. This is an ex local authority property with a physical DPC. It’s then had 3 more retrofit ones added. Although it’s got subfloor vents all the floors inside are solid. There is no extractor in the kitchen or bathroom. All the internal walls are dry except for some elevated readings just above the skirting coincidentally where the subfloor vents are positioned. Que local companies to diagnose rising damp and hack off all walls up to 1m before applying plastic membranes with plasterboards n plugs.

Been to survey a rented property today with one of the worst black mould problems iv seen in years. The Owners have an agent managing the property and didn’t know there was an issue. The tenant is foreign and also was oblivious to the situation. It was picked up by a valuation surveyor who recommended a damp and timber survey. There are multiple red flags at work here, one is the management company not doing checks, 2 the tenant thinking the conditions are acceptable, 3 the poor condition of the property from an insulation, ventilation and maintenance aspect. Have you had damp work carried out and the damp returned

This bottom part of this gable end wall had been damp proofed and waterproofed 15 years ago yet the wall paper was continuously becoming wet causing decoration spoil and the finish kept blowing. After doing a survey we noted that directly below the timber floor is the cellar with an open channel where at times water runs through. This wall was cold bridging with it being solid and water vapour from below was condensing on the cold surface causing the issue. The home owner was reluctant to have all the sand cement render hacked off and the mess and dust associated with it so we opted for the Isotherm system to warm the surface by around 8 degrees. Damp work is not a one stop system so properties have to be looked at as well as budgets and modern systems available.
We work with customers on a bespoke basis unlike large companies and we try to listen to the customers needs before designing a suitable method to install.
