I love our flag. As a veteran mine flies on top of my Marine Corps flag. My flag flies proudly as it did at Ft McHenry in Baltimore during the 1814 battle that inspired the National Anthem. The flag flew battered torn beaten but upright and proud. My flag will do the same. My house has not been defeated and continues to fight. My fight/flag will continue until it sees victory or defeat which defeat will signify my death. And my flag was removed by my oppressors not by me.
I will not allow my enemies to see and smile at an upside down flag as they approach my fort. They should be concerned by the rattlesnake they will have to fight to try and remove it. Don't tread on me and appeal to heaven is my war cry. I am not in distress as I put on my armor and Salute my flag and say proudly I will give my life in your defense.
Do not give these communist the pleasure of seeing our flag upside down. Just like Iwo Jima I will raise the flag in victory every day until I die

Cover blocks are what we used to keep the rims of the campaign covers pressed flat and to hang our hats. The yellow and red on left was done on my last platoon I was working prior to leaving Parris Island. All my platoons are listed on it to include my time as a Marine Combat Instructor of Water Survival. Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C.

Remembering the days of having an artist recruit. Recruit Smith painted the footlocker I received at Parris Island SC. 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Bravo Company. I was a 1st Battalion Recruit, a 1st Battalion Drill Instructor, and my son was a 1st Battalion Bravo Company recruit as well. Family Tradition established!
Inside this footlocker many things throughout my career are kept. If people are interested I would love to share. I have already shared my Robin Williams story and autograph photo from a USO. Like and comment if you would like me to share more.
Description of Footlocker:
The footlocker itself is kept at the end of the recruits bunk. Between this and the seabag hung on the back side of the bunk a Marine recruit stores and keeps all items throughout recruit training.
On this footlocker I have the rank of Sergeant on the left representing the rank I went to be a Drill Instructor on the Right I have the rank Staff Sergeant the rank achieved prior to finishing duty.
On the Top the 1st Battalion logo is painted in the center and my last name is just below the logo. Flanking both sides of the logo are belts. The solid Green belt representing Junior DI, Green Belt with holes painted represents the "Heavy" DI, and the Black Belt represents Senior Drill Instructor positions I served.
Across the front the Bravo Company Shield is painted. Flanked by the year I went to be a DI and the year I left.
Running across the top of the front you will see dog tags painted. They have the Platoon numbers of the platoons I trained as a drill instructor as they coordinated with the DI position associated with the belt they are under.

On a few deployments I got to meet celebrities and one in particular I met enough that he knew me by my first name. I just thought it was really cool that he remembered. We had a USO lunch with myself and other military members and Robin Williams. I found this when looking through my war chest. Such a tragic loss of a great comedian.

While out on patrol OIF/OEF we would carry these matches and pass them out. They have the photo of wanted people and information on reward and how to give information written on the inside. The pack of cards had most wanted on them. This pack is still unopened. Hard to believe it has been over 20 years.
Who else has these still?

There's an old saddle placed in an old oak tree. I couldn't resist the childhood urge to climb up into the saddle as a youth once maybe had done. Amazing the things that used to entertain us as kids and the things that entertain the kids today. I feel that the majority of kids today are missing out on what the world is really about. Touch the Earth touch the sky but enjoy everything it has to offer.

While returning to my truck after a #hog #hunt I was standing at back of #truck talking to a friend when I thought I heard a rattle. I dismissed it as a grasshopper or some other insect. Shortly afterwards the rattle got louder and I turn to find this #Eastern #diamondback #rattlesnake within 3 feet and ready to strike. Have to be careful even back at the truck. Didn't see a #snake all day until I was at truck packing up. I always wear #snakeboots while in the #woods. #venom #2023 hog #hunting
