During the past years I read an article claiming that Williams had 2 cars for 1994 season. The first car was the FW15D which Ayrton used during testing. This car was the passive version of 1993 car. This car was not bad, it was like the FW14 (1991) with a much better engine.
The second car, the one was used during 1994, was the FW16 which was an evolution of the FW14. The FW16 was using an experimental new rear suspension, which was Andrian Newey's design. This experimental rear suspension made the car tricky to drive and caused Ayrton to spin during the sessions of the first 3 races.
The same article said that Ayrton wanted to drive the passive FW15D for 1994, but it was Newey's decision to use the FW16.
