When they failed their A Levels due to lack of attendance at college and were banned from the local Finishing School, they began to seriously reconsider their futures. For the next few years, they tirelessly churned out comedy sketches that utterly failed to catch anyone’s attention but their own.
But Rob never gave up on the dream, sacrificing his family, career and his health to continue honing their work. By complete contrast, Al (who claims he never got the email about ‘working hard on the sketches’) has sat about putting on weight and having a good time. It was only when his obesity (already the subject of two major documentaries) threatened to destabilise the planet that he began to question whose fault it was. ‘It was Rob’s,’ explains Al, ‘but hopefully the money we’ll make from reforming can pay for me to sue him and then get thin so I can put the weight on again.’
