Something else that I forgot to mention in this video is that lower transmission frequencies also tend to have better range. So in countries where the 433 MHz standard is allowed you could theoretically get the best distance. Some employees from Makerfabs just did a distance test using the 433 MHz modules (with a low bandwidth of 31.25 and a high spreading factor of 9) and managed to get signal up to 3.8km (over two miles)!
