I need to share some frustrating news about the challenges I've been facing with my YouTube channel lately. After receiving a false copyright strike, I decided not to engage with the abusive user behind it to avoid the drama they were clearly interested in cultivating. Instead, I opted to let it run its course, delete the content in question, and move forward. However, since then, YouTube's automated systems have been aggressively targeting my channel, particularly my satire videos featuring QAnon, MAGA, and Donald Trump.
Despite the obvious satirical nature of my content, the platform's brainless algorithms seem to misunderstand, flagging them as the promoting dangerous and violent conspiracies I am mocking. I know this is being done by an automated tool because its occurring on videos that haven't had a single view in months. While most of my appeals are swiftly accepted, there was one particularly absurd instance where a video featuring AI Trump humorously claiming to be a "Twink femboy" was inexplicably rejected, resulting in a warning for my channel.
It's disheartening to see how easily misunderstood satire can be, especially by automated systems, and its more disheartening to have this come as a result of the actions of an abusive users who's channel I made the mistake of promoting before I knew better. As a result, I made the difficult decision to cease expressing political opinions of any kind of the platform. While deleting over 5000 typing hours' worth of filtered abusive Trump supporter comments in a single day was a memorable experience, this nonsense isn't something I wish to repeat.
Regrettably, my experience with YouTube has been far from premium, leading me to cancel my YouTube Premium subscription. I want to clarify that my channel is not monetized, and I never intended it to be a source of profit. However, it's become an unexpected source of unwarranted annoyance. I'm just a small time youtube user trying to make memes, post about gaming, and promote content I like in my free time. Youtube isn't worth the extra annoyance its providing to me right now. I'm sure they know that and that the point is to kill my motivation and by extension my channel. Its working.
