About

Reuben E. Phillips is a country guitarist born on April 19, 1946 in Greene, New York. He was raised in Whitney Point and moved to McDonough in the early 1950s. He was inspired to start playing guitar at 15 years old when he heard "Wheels" and "Under The Double Eagle" playing on a jukebox in a casino in Arizona. Those were his first of many songs that he went on to learn and arrange within the genres of country, country rock, traditional, latin, standard, and jazz. He served in the US military as an army medic starting on October 12, 1966, and was honorably discharged on October 11, 1968. He started working as a carpenter and a finish carpenter after getting home, and worked his way up to being a contractor. He gained an interest in country bands in the 80's, and takes inspiration from musicians such as The Ventures, Chet Atkins, and Duane Eddy. Throughout the years, he has recorded five original songs: "My Melody," "My Song," "Reuben's Boogie," "Reuben's Song," and "Reuben's Medley."
