The 44 North was born in Northumberland County Ontario, ‘44 degrees north’ of the earth’s equatorial plane. The platform originally launched in 2019 as KBI Inspire Magazine, quickly built up a following that stretches far beyond our Canadian roots and expanded to include a podcast, YouTube Channel and an annual live event and podcast recording.
The original publication was inspired by the memory of a girl named Kaitlyn – and a mission to create and support programs that promote self-esteem in young people in her honour.
The mission of The 44 North continues the work that KBI Inspire started – we aim to inform, empower and inspire young people. The publication's goal is to maintain a platform that showcases the depth of the human experience; The 44 North explores topics related to mental health, relevant and pressing social issues, creativity, literature and everything else in between.
