Stewkley Film Archive holds the digitised films of a number of local cinematographers active in the Buckinghamshire village of Stewkley and nearby through the 1960s to modern times. They include over 40 years of annual May Day celebrations at Stewkley School, and extensive coverage from local filmmakers, the BBC TV and others of the village's battle to avoid being bulldozed to make way for a brand new London Airport. The campaign lasted from the late 1960/s to 1971. The wide range of films range from village fetes to the celebrations of Queen Elizabeth ll's Silver, Diamond and Platinum Jubillees. In toital the archive holds more than 100 films shot on 8mm, Super 8mm, VHS, Super VHS, and digital video. The Archive is, by accident, also the holder of historic films dating from the 1930s and 60s from Aylesbury and others fromthe 1970s from the village of Drayton Parslow.
