Infotainment came about through the blurring of the line between information and entertainment in news and current affairs programming, whether in the selection of news stories (e.g., more emphasis on celebrity gossip, crime stories, and human-interest pieces which came from history or in their presentation stylistically, through flashy graphics, fast-paced editing, music, and sound effects, as well as in terms of tone and approach, through the use sensationalism or satire.
