He initially trained in general surgery and subsequently sub-specialised in the field of urology. After being awarded his fellowship in urological surgery Dr. Katelaris completed his training in Europe. Dr. Katelaris was awarded the prestigious Keith Kirkland Prize by the Urological Society of Australasia and the Noel Newton Medal by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
