We normally call in help for chicken processing, but this year we were super bad at planning and decided last minute to just tough it out in the rain with just the 4 of us. Processing chickens with a 5 year old running around and an 18 month old looking on certainly isn’t the easiest thing we’ve ever tackled as a husband/wife team, but it’s super rewarding to know we are raising kids who know where their food comes from and that it was raised right.

It’s always a great day when things work out in your favor. I pulled this guy away from his two partners this morning and was fortunate enough to harvest him for our family. The breast meat will get ground with fat from our pigs to make sausage, the legs and thighs will become soup or chili, and the bones will become stock that we’ll can up for the year.

We are so happy to welcome Madison Joan to the family. A week and 2 days late, she finally decided to grace us with her presence this morning after a short but very intense labor. 7lb 8oz & 20”. Both Jackie and Madison are doing well, Emma is beyond excited to be a big sister, and I’m feeling extremely outnumbered.
I’ll be another week or so off from uploading before returning with some big news for the channel.

Hi there! We’re Jackie, Jack, and Emma! We purchased just over 10 acres in the beautiful Monadnock region of New Hampshire in 2016, and are working our land to build a more sustainable life for our growing family.
Currently, we have a large garden that we use to grow as many vegetables as we can, and are in the process of planting a small orchard. We harvest our own firewood, and are working towards being self reliant on ourselves for meat in the near future, through raising our own pastured pork and chicken, as well as hunting and fishing.
Expect videos of our day to day activities, as well as Kubota tractor videos and other reviews and how-to videos.
